Professor Wright (Kash) holds a B.A. in Music Theory & Composition from McDaniel College and a M.A. in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. Prakash is an active and in demand musician on the MD/DC/VA jazz scene and has played venues with his trio and as a sideman for various local artists including: Twins Jazz club in Washington DC, 49 West Coffee House and Wine bar in Annapolis, MD, The 4th Annual Lakeland Heritage Festival in College Park, MD and the US Department of Education Blue Ribbon School Banquet (2010-2012) held in Washington, DC. A native of the Washington D.C. metro area, Prakash holds a B.A. in Music Theory & Composition from McDaniel College and a M.A. in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. Prakash has shared the stage with drummer Benny Madina Sr., the late tenor saxophonist Marchel Ivery, vocalist Carla Norris-Hopkins, Nia Olabesi, Diane Daly, Sharon Raquel, and Aisha Khalil. For the 2014-2015 school year, Prakash will remain on the music faculty of Sewanee: The University of the South as a Visiting Assistant Professor. Prakash will conduct the college jazz ensemble, teach courses in music theory, jazz improvisation, the history of gospel music, direct the college gospel choir, Sewanee Praise, and the University Pep Band.
