Ann’s focus on Religion at Sewanee solidified her desire to help others and alleviate suffering, particularly among the disenfranchised. She has always been interested in ethics and her responsibility to others as a person born into privilege. She has traveled to Haiti three times and currently sits on the board of a nonprofit supporting sustainability in Haiti. She enjoys her work as a social worker, as she is able to connect with and educate families in her community to whom she would otherwise have no exposure. Her work is full of surprises, and is always challenging and very rewarding. She recently became a mother, and hopes to impart to her daughter the importance of giving back, as well as the knowledge that despite different circumstances, we are all human and deserve to be treated as such.
