Both of Rob Lamborn’s parents were music teachers, and his trombonist father introduced him to the instrument. He has taught trombone over much of the course of his life. He has experience in band, orchestra, jazz, early music, chamber music, and solo playing.

Lamborn holds the B.Mus. in Music Education, and the M.Mus. is in Musicology. For both degrees he completed a concentration/cognate field in trombone. He worked for three years as Associate Instructor in Musicology at Indiana University. During his three years studying at Sewanee's School of Theology, he assisted the conductor of what is now the Sewanee Symphony Orchestra, leading sectional rehearsals, teaching private lessons, and performing in the orchestra. Rob finds it energizing to participate in Sewanee’s community of musicians. He takes particular satisfaction in helping students of a variety of ability levels progress toward their goals in music as a source of lifelong enjoyment.

Lamborn’s principal teachers have been William H. Hill (Georgia State University, retired), R. Philip Jameson (University of Georgia), and M. Dee Stewart (Indiana University). An Episcopal priest, Rob holds the M.Div. from the School of Theology of the University of the South, and the D.Min. from Virginia Theological Seminary. He is Rector of the Parish of St. Mark & St. Paul in Sewanee.
