Julie Ditzel is flutist extraordinaire as evidenced by her orchestral experience with the Bowling Green Orchestra Kentucky and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra among others. Her chamber music performances have featured at the National Flute Association Convention in New York City and the Mohonk Music Festival.
Her extended teaching encompasses master classes and clinics at MTSU, Vanderbilt, Tennessee Tech, WKU, Dutchess County Community College and Nyack College. Not to mention her 28 years as a private flute studio teacher.
Her professional career features recordings of “Harvest” with Joe Alessi and Charles Osgood, the PBS Songs of the Civil War (Columbia Records), and a number of WKRN broadcasts (Academy Woodwind Quintet, Academy Win Quintet Chamber Winds, etc.). She shines on piccolo as well as flute in the West Point Bicentennial Series (volumes I–IV).
Julie received the B.Mus. in flute performance at the Blair School of Music (Vanderbilt University). Her principal teachers include Julius Baker (former principal flutist with the New York Philharmonic), Trudy Kane (Metropolitan Opera), and Jane Kirchner (Blair School of Music).
