At our summer conference, we provide an intensive two-week period of reading, writing, and community. But that kind of retreat isn't always possible.
How do we make space for writing in our normal daily lives, beyond the magic of the summer conference structure?
Winterim is designed to help you answer that question.
There are very few spaces where we can focus on writing alone. This is one of them, and it does it quite well. --Winterim 2025 participant
The Sewanee Young Writers' Conference now offers an online creative writing workshop. Alongside students from around the world, you'll hone your craft in your genre of choice. Ready to expand your writing community?
With Winterim, for six weeks in January and February, you'll...
- Begin a new project or hone your existing work in fiction, poetry, or creative nonfiction
- Receive instruction from our committed, accomplished faculty in the form of mini video lectures, writing prompts, feedback on your work, and facilitated workshop-style correspondences
- Make and meet your writing goals in a small online workshop setting while developing friendships with other student writers near and far
- Attend a few Zoom meet-ups with your instructor and coursemates
- Have accountability, community, encouragement, and inspiration, and help during those long winter months.
