Welcome to the Sewanee Young Writers' Conference, Summer 2021! For our virtual conference this year, you will be engaging with our workshops through our University's Learning Management System, D2L/Brightspace. On this platform you'll find Zoom links to your individual workshop and other activities.


1. your account activation email:

In your email inbox you should have received a message titled: The University of the South: Enrollment Confirmation that looks just like this:

If you did not receive this email, contact us at sywc@sewanee.edu so that we can send you another.

Once you locate this email, write down your username; this cannot be changed and will be crucial for your attendance during our virtual conference this year. 

Next, click on Set up a Password. See instructions below. 


2. creating your password

Once you click on Set up a Password within the body of the email, you'll come to this screen:

Now, take the username that you wrote down in step #1, type it in the first box, and then set up your own password. Make sure to review the password requirements when choosing a strong password.  We highly recommend that you write down your password for future reference. 

**Reminder: never share your password with anyone, even our staff. If you forget your password, please contact us and we'll send you a link to make another one.

Once you've successfully created your password, you'll see this screen below, but do not click on "Go to login page" because it will take you to the wrong place:

**DO NOT CLICK "Go to Login Page"**

You can simply close this window once your password is created. Follow the instructions in the next section to login.


3. login to brightspace

Once you've setup your password, use the web address below to login to Brightspace for our virtual conference:

https://learn.sewanee.edu/d2l/local

Please make sure to bookmark this link so that you can easily revisit it this summer. Upon clicking this link, you will see this:Put in the username that you received in your email, and the password that you created in Step #2 of these instructions.

Once you're logged in, you'll be directed to the organization homepage:

Once you see this screen, you're ready to go! The Sewanee Young Writers' Conference 2022 course will contain general information about the conference, and you'll see a separate course for your individual workshop, with your instructor's name in the title.
