Dr. Castillo has taught all levels of Spanish language (including courses for heritage speakers), as well as advanced courses in Spanish linguistics, syntax, translation, culture & civilization, old Spanish, and sports & culture. He has also taught courses in English linguistics, syntax, dialectology and English as a second language.
His publications include topics such as theoretical syntax, English syntax, Spanish syntax and phonology, history of Spanish, and the interaction between sports and society, with special emphasis on issues of local and national identity in Spanish sports.
