Dr. Heidi Siegrist received her Ph.D. in English from the University of Virginia in 2022. Her area of focus is contemporary American literature, and she is currently at work on a book project exploring the intersections between conceptions of queerness and Southernness in novels and short stories since the 1980s. During her time at UVA, she served as the assistant editor for the Virginia Quarterly Review. Dr. Siegrist received her M.F.A from Sewanee in 2017 (with a focus in creative nonfiction) and her B.A. in psychology from the University of Chicago in 2013. In addition to teaching, she serves as the assistant director for the Sewanee Young Writers Conference. She is originally from Huntsville, Alabama, and she enjoys swimming and playing complicated board games.
