The University's fundraising priorities—scholarships, athletics, and seminary life—reflect our aim of creating a transformative experience for each student who passes through the Mountain's gates.

Sewanee's Fundraising Priorities

Scholarship & Financial Aid

Each year the University invests more than $50 million in institutional aid to make a Sewanee education accessible to students from across the country and around the world. Generous support from alumni, families and friends make that possible.

Sewanee Athletics

Sewanee is committed to excellence in all areas of the student experience and recognizes the positive impact that athletic programming has—not only on the more than 30% of students who represent Sewanee at the varsity level but on all of our students. The University’s athletic facilities will be evaluated as part of the comprehensive campus master planning process with the goal of better serving the recreational, fitness, and wellness needs of the entire University community—residents, students, faculty, and staff.

The School of Theology

Gifts in support of the School of Theology's seminary and the Beecken Center make a difference by:

  • Ensuring that seminary students can pursue their ordained and lay vocations without the burden of debt incurred during their preparation for ministry.
  • Extending scholarship support to participants in Education for Ministry and strengthening program curriculum.
  • Developing programs and enriching the curriculum in the seminary and the Beecken Center.
