Through hands-on learning on Sewanee’s Domain, life in the Green House, and a liberal arts education, she’s exploring how science, communication, and sustainability can come together to help farmers build a better future.

When Nahuel Martinez, C’26, came to Sewanee from Paraguay, he could hardly imagine how much he would change. Four years later, he has studied in four countries, conducted research on climate change, and embraced the challenge of learning beyond the classroom.

The Community Builder
For Luke McLendon, C’27, community has been a source of both belonging and purpose. Through the orchestra, relationships with professors, and interdisciplinary study in psychology and environmental arts and humanities, he has found new ways to understand people, connect with others, and transform his concern for the environment into meaningful action.
The Rural Health Advocate
A summer internship in geriatric psychiatry helped Mya Lopez, C’26, see how a background in psychology can shape the way physicians care for their patients. Now, she hopes to combine medicine and public health to serve rural Appalachian communities.

At Sewanee, Jackson Pillow, C’27, has found a community where athletic competition and academic exploration go hand in hand. As a varsity athlete and English student, he thrives in small, discussion-driven classes while building meaningful relationships with professors and teammates. A visit to the Domain (it's what we call our 13,000-acre campus) is the best way to determine if Sewanee is a good fit for you. Once you set foot on campus, spend time with our students and professors, or take a stroll through Abbo's Alley, we are confident that Sewanee will find its way into your heart.
Our small classes mean that your voice will be heard, your contribution will be expected, and your opinion will be listened to (and disagreed with, and challenged, and seen from a different perspective, and pushed in a new direction, and considered—and you know what?
