The University Art Gallery is delighted to present Ming Ying Hong's The One With The... Amalgamations, an exhibition of two series of intricate graphite, charcoal, color pencil, and pastel drawings. We welcome Peter Holder, Sub-Organist at Westminster Abbey in London, to play a recital in All Saints' Chapel. Holder was the principal organist for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 and the coronation of Charles III in May 2023. The musical themes of the program are "Royal Connections" and "Westminster Chimes."

You're invited to a poignant bilingual celebration of the Day of the Dead, a Mexican tradition dating back hundreds of years, now widely celebrated in the United States. Commemorative altars, or ofrendas, honoring those who have died will be set up around the sides of All Saints'. You're invited to bring photos of loved ones who have died to add to the ofrendas. This year's post-walk speaker, Bo Taylor, of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, is nationally known for his storytelling and his contributions to Cherokee language preservation. A university-provided shuttle will be on hand to take folks who would like to ride back to their cars at the start of the walk. The violent events of Oct. 7. 2023, shocked the world and set into motion what many fear will be a protracted regional war. The goal of this panel is to broaden and to deepen our understanding of the sources of the conflict and its lived experiences; it is not a space for debate but rather for learning and for reflection on this ongoing tragedy.
In addition to brief talks by each of the panelists, the event will incorporate a Q&A segment using polling software to give attendees the opportunity to submit questions anonymously throughout our discussion. Free and open to the public.

A literary critic and professor, Dr. Newstok focuses his teaching and research primarily on the English Renaissance. A key aspect of his research is the educational practices of that time period, and their relationship to education today.
His most recent book, How to Think like Shakespeare: Lessons from a Renaissance Education, was a 2020 Times Literary Supplement Book of the Year.
Next Sunday, Gabriel is presenting a voice recital reflecting on his time abroad last year in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The program, entirely in German and spanning nearly a hundred years of the romantic Lied tradition presents songs by Schubert, Robert and Clara Schumann, Brahms, Wolf, Strauss, and Franz, and explores stories of devotion, loss, and unrequited love.

Some of Utagawa Hiroshige’s designs in his series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo are among the best-known woodblock prints and have been cherished since their inception in the 1850s. Hiroshige captured 118 different scenes in the metropolis of Edo, today’s Tokyo, and sourced his ideas from illustrations in previously published books.
