^{Elizabeth Nelson Dawson, MD, C' 97, founded the Troy Resilience Project, a Family Resource Center located in Troy, AL with the mission of building resilience in children and families. In 2023 Elizabeth received the Ray E Helfer MD award from the Children’s Trust Fund Alliance for her local, state, and national work in child abuse and neglect prevention. Her work is driven by her study of the pathophysiology of adversity and belief in the healing power of resilience. Elizabeth was named as a recipient of the Women Who Shape the State of Alabama in 2024 for her work in Pediatrics and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.}
