Arrival and Departure

Planning your arrival (Tuesday, July 14)

For Camp 2026, campers should plan to be on the domain no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14 so that they have adequate time to check-in, unpack, and attend Camp Orientation in its full duration. The Nashville Airport is a 90 minute drive from campus, and the final shuttle/van will depart there by 2:00 p.m. Please plan flights accordingly so that your child, even with a reasonable delay, will be arriving by early afternoon.

Check in time and location

Check-in at Hamilton Hall begins at 12:00 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. Campers may arrive and check-in and move into their rooms at any point during this period. SUMMA Orientation starts promptly at 4:30 p.m. and all accepted campers are expected to attend, as we go over important information to ensure the camp experience is safe, fun, inclusive, and meaningful for everyone.

Planning your departure (Wednesday, july 22)

Campers must be checked out of their dorm room by 10:00 a.m. on the day of departure. The final camp shuttle to the airport will depart Sewanee by 11:30 a.m. Please plan flights accordingly, as your camper may need to spend time at the airport before their flight leaves.

Flying to SUMMA

campers flying to SUMMA and getting to Sewanee

The two closest airports to Sewanee are the Nashville International Airport (BNA), about 90 miles away, and the Chattanooga Airport (CHA), about 60 miles away. We recommend flying in and out of Nashville. Sewanee is located about 5 miles from I-24, which runs between Nashville and Chattanooga. Franklin County/Sewanee Airport (UOS), Winchester Municipal Airport (BGF), and Tullahoma Regional Airport (THA) are private options.

Ground transportation is available to those flying to the Nashville International Airport, which is about an hour-and-a-half from campus. Camp staff will provide ground transportation in university-certified vehicles from Nashville to Sewanee (arrivals) and from Sewanee to Nashville (departures). For departures at the end of camp, all program participants must be out of Quintard Hall by 10:00 a.m. When making your reservation, please be mindful that you enter the correct days, times, and locations. If you have questions, please write to us at summa@sewanee.edu and we will be glad to help you finalize the correct reservation.
