Financial Resources

EMERGENCY FUNDING

The Sewanee Emergency Fund is available to all Sewanee students who need financial help following an emergency (e.g., unexpected medical or dental costs, help for transportation home during a personal or family emergency, etc.). There are also designated funds for LGBTQ+ students (the Rainbow Fund), underrepresented and marginalized students, Posse scholars, F-1 international students, and others.

Access, EQUITY, & OPPORTUNITY FUNDING
  • Student Equity Fund: The Office of Inclusive Excellence manages funds for underrepresented and marginalized students for emergencies, travel, graduate program application fees, cost of living support, and other educational or programmatic needs. Apply here
  • The Rainbow Fund in Honor of Bishop V. Gene Robinson, C'69: The Rainbow Fund provides secondary financial support for any queer-identifying person on campus and provides funding to enhance LGBTQ+ programming on campus. Read more and apply here
  • Career Opportunity Fund: Career Readiness offers up to $1,000 over four years for career or graduate school exploration (such as registering for a conference, buying professional attire, or test fees) for students with financial need—read more and apply here. Once you submit your application, your need will be verified with Financial Aid. Note: Career Opportunity Fund availability is limited, particularly later in the academic year. However, don't let that discourage you from applying, as your career exploration-related need may be able to be met with a grant from another fund depending on your eligibility.
  • Internship and Research Funding: All students can apply for funding to support an unpaid or under-funded internship or research experience, and there is additional funding available for students with demonstrated financial need. Make sure you have a strong internship and funding application by making a coaching appointment in your Student Success Portal
  • Study Away Scholarship Funding: In addition to study away/abroad support provided by the Sewanee Pledge, additional scholarships are available for students with demonstrated financial need. Read more and apply here
