WELCOME TO UHS!

University Health Services (UHS) is a primary healthcare center that provides general medical services for students who are injured or ill. We also provide physical exams for employment, study abroad, and yearly wellness exams. Students can fill prescriptions at our in-house dispensary, or they can be sent to a local pharmacy.

How to Schedule a UHS Appointment

To make an appointment, call (931) 598-1270 or walk in during business hours. You may also schedule online on your Patient Portal.

PRIMARY CARE SERVICES

  • Routine Health Exams
    • Comprehensive physical exams to monitor and maintain your overall health
  • Acute Illness and Injury Care
    • Immediate care for illnesses and injuries including colds, flu, minor injuries, and more
  • Chronic Disease Management
    • Ongoing care and management for chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and hypertension
  • Immunizations
    • Vaccinations to protect against common and serious illnesses, including flu shots and required immunizations
  • Women's Health Services
    • Gynecological exams, contraception counseling, pregnancy testing, and more
  • Men's Health Services
    • Health screenings, sexual health counseling, and other male-specific health services

SEXUAL HEALTH SERVICES

  • Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program
    • Comprehensive care for survivors of sexual assault, including medical examinations, forensic evidence collection, and emotional support. All services are provided with the utmost confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • STI Testing and Treatment
    • Confidential testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections
  • Contraception
    • Information and access to various contraceptive methods

PREVENTATIVE HEALTH SERVICES

  • Health Education
    • Programs and resources to educate students about healthy lifestyle choices and preventative care
  • Nutrition Education/Referral
    • Guidance on healthy eating habits and nutritional support

SPECIALTY SERVICES

  • Travel Health
    • Pre-travel consultations, examinations, vaccinations, and health advice
  • Referral to outside specialists as needed

If you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, please call 911 or the Sewanee police at (931) 598-1111. The hospital on campus, Southern Tennessee Regional Health System-Sewanee, is located at 1260 University Ave. The non-emergency phone number for the hospital is (931) 598-5691.

Patient Portal

Access your Patient Portal to manage appointments, contact staff confidentially, and to fill out questionnaires and forms.

Billing Information

UHS bills for services and accepts most major insurance plans. Please bring your insurance card with you to your appointment. If you do not have health insurance, please discuss self-pay options with your provider.
