Departmental Honors and Prizes
  1. Honors in French and French Studies: an average grade of 3.5 or higher in courses from FREN 313 to 435 taken at Sewanee.
  2. Comps with Distinction: comprehensive examinations recognized for particularly high quality.
  3. Ruggles-Wright Prize: best performance on Comps.
  4. The Outstanding Senior in French Award: senior major recognized for excellence.
  5. The Linda Wheat Grant for Graduate Study in France: senior major with the highest GPA in French classes at the end of the first semester of the senior year and who showed an interest in studying in France or a Francophone country for a year after graduation. The selected student receives a grant to study in France or a Francophone country for one year.
