The Office of University Relations engages with external constituents (alumni, parents, friends, organizations – including parishes and dioceses) to inform them about Sewanee, engage them in various activities both on and off campus, and seek their financial support for the University. University Relations includes the offices of Advancement, Alumni and Parent Programs, and Marketing and Communications.

Office of Advancement

The Sewanee Advancement Team is ready to help you meet your philanthropic goals, whether that is a gift to the Sewanee Fund, the establishment of an endowment through a major gift, or checking on status of your giving and outstanding pledges.

Advancement areas include:

  • The Sewanee Fund (annual fund)
  • Major Gifts (for endowments, capital projects and other University priorities)
  • Foundations and Development Communications
  • Donor Relations
  • School of Theology Development, Alumni and Church Relations
  • Parents’ Council
  • Prospect Research
  • Advancement Services

Alumni and Parent Programs

The Alumni and Parent Programs office keeps these constituents informed about Sewanee through electronic newsletters, social media posts and on- and off-campus events. APP facilitates Sewanee Club events in cities across the country and hosts regular on-campus events such as Reunions, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Commencement, Perimeter Trail Weekend, and an annual golf tournament.

Marketing and Communications

Marketing and Communications uses a variety of mediums to promote Sewanee out in the world – to prospective students and parents and to inform other constituencies (including alumni, parents, friends and organizations) about Sewanee. A monthly electronic “Features” offers stories of interest on faculty, students and alumni, and an electronic magazine provides more in-depth coverage of topics.
