All Saints' Chapel

The Chapel hosts worship throughout the week, most of which comes from the Episcopal tradition, an open, generous, and thoughtful expression of the Christian faith.  Because not everyone at Sewanee identifies as an Episcopalian or even as a Christian, when you arrive for worship, expect to be greeted and guided through the service.

Got questions? We do too. Catechumenate is a place to go deep, with other people. Small group conversations made up of students, faculty, staff, and community members are the heart of this weekly Wednesday offering. Short presentations set the table for the small groups, and there's usually snacks involved. Folks begin arriving in the Bairnwick Women's Center at 6:30 p.m., and the program starts at 7 p.m.

Growing in Grace is an informal worship service with a welcoming atmosphere, featuring student-led acoustic music, a different speaker each week, and Holy Communion.  Join us at All Saints' Chapel on Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m., where our speakers will reflect on our semester-long theme:  "In This Place." 

The University Choir is made up of more than 50 dedicated undergraduates who sing at weekly services in All Saints' Chapel and a variety of recitals throughout the program year. Choir membership is open to everyone, regardless of previous experience or religious identity.

Whether you identify with a particular religious or spiritual tradition, engage with multiple traditions, or are currently exploring what brings meaning, purpose, and belonging to your life, the Chapel is a resource to you.  In addition to supporting student religious groups through the Interfaith Advisory Council, the Chapel works with the Interfaith House to create spaces where students can explore their own sources of meaning while also learning from others who differ from them.

Chaplains accompany people in times of struggle and times of joy.  Chaplains in Residence offer that opportunity for connection in residence halls across campus.  Whether you're grieving, celebrating, or asking big questions of meaning and purpose, Chaplains in Residence create the space for meaningful connection.

Wayfinding is a one day workshop that happens each fall during which sophomore students explore their strengths, values, and possible career paths.  Students engage with alumni from different fields and connect with staff members from the Office of Career Readiness and All Saints' Chapel.  The goal is to equip students as they work to build lives and careers with a sense of purpose.

The majestic beauty of All Saints' Chapel is the perfect setting for the annual service of Lessons and Carols.  This reflective and festive worship service regularly attracts as many as 3,000 people to campus each year and is a signature event at the University.  The University Choir features prominently in the service, offering poignant and thrilling anthems, leading the congregation in carols, and joining voices with a global, time-honored tradition.
