Since 2016, The University of the South has had one of the only student run prescribed fire teams in the country.  Every participant is trained as a United States Forest Service Type II wildland firefighter and takes these credentials with them when they graduate, often directly into jobs involving fire.

Every year this crew carry's out prescribed fires at various locations throughout the Domain. These fires help promote target wildlife and plant species across the property and provide a powerful learning tool for student firefighters and researchers alike.
