The deans of students and the entire division of student life staff and student leaders collaborate to foster an engaged community dedicated to student development, where living honorably is our long-standing tradition.
Student Involvement at Sewanee, through its programs, organizations, and events, coordinates and implements cultural, educational, recreational, and social co-curricular activities that contribute to the University’s purpose of the development of the whole person through a liberal arts education.
We have some of the oldest chapters in the nation. What makes Greek life at Sewanee a bit different from other campuses is that most sorority-and-fraternity sponsored events are open to the entire campus. It's one of the most welcoming Greek life practices around.
The Residential Life Staff at Sewanee work to foster EQB with the over 98% of undergraduates living on campus. Review more information for incoming and current students, leadership positions, housing options and so much more below.
The Sewanee Outing Program (SOP) gives students the chance to explore Sewanee’s 13,000-acre campus, the surrounding region, and wilderness areas across the United States.

The Student Life newsletter spotlights current campus happenings, student activities and accomplishments, and news from the Student Life Division.
Sewanee provides funding for an approved summer internship or research fellowship, a semester-long study abroad opportunity at no additional tuition cost, and the ability to graduate with one major in four years. Of course, you will have to do your part. If you meet Sewanee’s academic and social expectations, these opportunities will be provided.
Our small classes mean that your voice will be heard, your contribution will be expected, and your opinion will be listened to (and disagreed with, and challenged, and seen from a different perspective, and pushed in a new direction, and considered—and you know what? Maybe we’re both right. See how it works?).
We're a community where everyone has a place and there's a place for everyone. Group study? We'll bring our notes. Rock climbing? We're geared up and ready. Jam session? Sure, we'll play with you. Whatever you want to do, at Sewanee, you'll never have to go it alone. Unless you need your space. Then, we totally get it.
