• When working late at night or during the early morning hours, make sure the door is locked. 
  • Keep valuables in a locked cabinet or drawer. Never leave them on or underneath a desk. 
  • Never prop doors open (especially fire doors) even for a short period of time. 
  • Do not hold a locked door open for a stranger(s) after normal business hours.
  • Do not leave keys unattended or give them to unauthorized persons. Report lost keys immediately to Sewanee Police at ext. 1111 or 931-598-1111.
  • Lock offices when unattended.
  • Secure ground and first-level windows prior to leaving the office for the day.
  • Secure and account for all sensitive material, i.e.: building plans, computer codes, access cards, etc. Report compromised codes to appropriate person(s) and lost access cards to the card office and the police department as soon as possible.
  • Secure sensitive deliveries in a timely manner.
  • Talk to co-workers about meeting points in the event of an evacuation. Be prepared to report missing co-workers who may still be in the building to police or fire officials.
  • Familiarize yourself with your co-workers, student employees, or residence peers to improve your ability of knowing/identifying suspicious persons.
