When using the school’s name on anything, it should be “The University of the South.” Do not include “Sewanee:” as this is not part of the school’s official name. Please refer to the University's Writing Style Guide for the manner in which the school's name should be written in paragraph form and style preferences.
The University seal may only be used for official University business. Items such as posters, bookmarks, etc., are not considered official business. You will be asked to the remove the seal from your job before we print.
Because of the University's tax-exempt status, we are unable to print anything political in nature, such as campaign posters or cards for individuals running for an elected position. Exceptions to this are posters for students running for student government positions on campus.
Make sure any copyrighted images have the proper permissions from the rights holder for reproduction. Just because it’s on the internet does not mean it’s free to reproduce—even for personal use. Requests with copyrighted material without the proper permission will not be printed.
Convert and submit all files as PDFs, including bleeds and crop marks where appropriate (see below).
When using Canva for poster creation, make sure to choose the appropriate sized template (i.e., choose 11x17 for posters rather than 18x24).
For posters and brochures with bleeds, export bleeds and crop marks. Booklet jobs, please export bleeds but no crop marks.
If your poster bleeds—the background image/color goes to the edge of the paper: – Include an extra .125" bleed on all sides. – Margins should be no less than .25".
Please include all necessary information when submitting requests: – Date you need your completed job (Please see below for turnaround times.) – Number finished pieces you need – Finished size of your document – Print in black & white or color – Paper type (text, cover, gloss, matte, color) – One-sided or two-sided – Collated, stapled, saddle-stitched booklet, bound, lamination, three-hole drill, cut, etc. – Anything else we need to know to aid us in completing your job.
Turnaround is 2-3 business days from time of receipt* during regular business hours for standard poster and card printing and trimming. Jobs needing additional hand work, such as layout, booklet making, etc., will require a longer turnaround. Additionally, requests requiring a digital or printed proof, turnaround time begins from the time approval is received during regular business hours. (*Requests submitted or approval given after 4:30 p.m. are not considered received until 8 a.m. the following business day.)
Print Services is a chargeback department. If your request is personal, we accept cash or check, and payment is due at time of pickup.
