| What AI tools does Sewanee offer? | Currently all University students and employees have access to Google's Gemini and Microsoft's Copilot through their University credentials. |
| Is any data I enter into University-supported AI used to train public models? | No; if you login to our AI platforms with your University credentials, all information that you enter will stay within the University technology ecosystem and is not available publicly, nor is it used to train publicly available versions of the same tools. |
| What if I want to use another tool that the University doesn't offer? | Ask the Help Desk and/or fill out our software request form. |
| I really don't want to use AI; can't we just turn everything off? | You have control! In most AI platforms there are options to toggle the visibility and prevalence of the AI tools that you see. See our features page to learn how to customize AI visibility in your account. |
| Am I allowed to use AI for my academic work? | Every University class is different, and your professor will guide you on the appropriate use of AI for any particular class. As a student or faculty member, you should also be familiar with the College of Arts & Sciences AI policy. |
