Sewanee Community Funding Project Request

The Sewanee Community Funding Project Committee, in conjunction with the Sewanee Community Council, is again seeking proposals for physical improvements and amenities on the Domain. When completed, these improvements should enhance the community and improve the quality of life of residents and possibly visitors as well. We welcome projects both big and small from individuals as well as organizations. To apply, please complete all required fields in this form.

Community Council:

Purpose: The Council shall promote the general welfare of the Sewanee Community and encourage cooperation in efforts that hold promise for civic development or improvement and shall deliberate such issues as may give rise to concern and tension within the community.

2026 Community Council Election Information:

Run for Community Council

Six elected Community Council are up for election: one seat in each of Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4, plus two at-large seats. Please see the District Map (link at the top of the page) for information on community council boundaries.

Who can run?

An elected candidate must be a registered voter in Franklin or Marion County, have a home address in the 37375 ZIP code, and have lived at an address within 37375 for at least two years before the election.

District candidates: Must live in the district they seek to represent, or on either side of a boundary street of that district.
At-large candidates: May run for one of the at-large seats and represent the community as a whole.

How do I apply for candidacy?

Candidacy Petition for Community Council

Petition requirement: Candidates need at least 10 signatures. For a district seat, signers must be registered voters who live in that district. For an at-large seat, signers may be registered voters from any district.
Deadline: Completed petitions must be received BEFORE October 15, 2026.
After submitting: Candidates should email a short bio and headshot to provostoffice@sewanee.edu care of Tabatha Whitsett.

Community Council Election Voting Information

Early Voting: Monday, October 19 through Friday, October 30, 2026. Voting is in person during business hours at the Office of Leases and Community Relations, 400 University Avenue (Blue House).
Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Voting is in person at Sewanee Elementary School. The 2026 election materials provided do not specify Election Day polling hours.
Who may vote? Registered voters in Franklin or Marion County with a home address in the 37375 ZIP code. Voters may vote for candidates seeking to represent the district in which they reside, as well as at-large candidates.
