Why did we pick Facebook?

It is definitely not perfect, but it’s free, easy to use, interactive, and lots of people already use it. For those who are not on Facebook, have privacy concerns, and/or don’t like it, here is how to maximize your privacy settings. And if you dislike Facebook in general, you can still be a part of these communications by signing up and using your new account ONLY for Sewanee Colleagues communications- you never need to accept friend requests or do anything else with your account. If you haven’t signed up for Facebook, you will be asked for your name, email address, and birthdate (to verify you are over age 13.)

To make this communications channel a useful and meaningful resource to us all, please feel empowered to post any/all of these:

  • Shout-outs/Compliments- Tell what good things our colleagues are doing- be specific and use names

  • Brief committee/division/department updates (via 2 min. videos or short paragraphs)- Keep us all informed about what is happening all around the University

  • Transitions- Births, deaths, deaths of family members

  • Questions- Post a question to the group

  • Events- Post any events that you think Sewanee colleagues might be interested in, such as virtual training opportunities, support groups (like for parents, those care for people at home who are sick), book/study groups, etc.

  • Help Needed/Offered- If you need help with a University project or if you have time to offer help, please ask for/offer it

  • Wellbeing & Remote Work Support- Post resources that can help us all with staying well and learning to work from home

  • Sewanee tips- If you have learned any helpful tech tips or library resources, or know of anything else that could be useful to your colleagues, please share it.

Please join us. We need everyone’s voice for encouragement, information, kindness, and ideas. May we get through all this with grace and grit- EQB!
