New Student Orientation for students entering in the Advent 2024 semester will be held Saturday, August 24 through Tuesday, August 27, 2024. The full schedule is below.

Join the rest of your class to kick off Orientation with team building activities and a welcome from Vice-Chancellor Rob Pearigen.

Family Welcome Reception
Family members of new students are invited to a welcome party hosted by the Sewanee Parents' Council. Come meet other families for a fun and festive gathering complete with snacks, drinks, and live music. Leave with a welcome gift courtesy of the Parents' Council!

Dinner
New students are welcome to eat dinner with their Orientation group or join their families for dinner this evening.

Dr. Besty Sandlin, Interim Dean of the College, will welcome all new students and provide information about expectations for your academic experience.

Living with Integrity Rotations
Orientation groups will rotate through three sessions to learn more about expectations for Living with Integrity on campus. Each group will also have a break during this time to enjoy recreation activities on the Main Quad, activities in Biehl Commons, or down time on your own. Attendance at these sessions is required.

EQB & Campus Safety
This session will cover the most important components of EQB: The Guide for Living in Community and campus safety with the Office of Community Standards, Sewanee Police Department, and Sewanee Volunteer Fire Department.

Honor Code
In this session, students will meet with members of the Honor Council to understand their responsibilities to the community as expressed in the Honor Code.

Dignity & Respect
This session highlights the University's commitment to treating all members of the University community with dignity and respect. The program will include information about preventing hazing, discrimination, and harassment.
