New Student Orientation for students entering in the Advent 2025 semester will be held Saturday, August 23 through Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Pick up your room key, parking pass, and receive instructions about moving into your room during your assigned move in time.

Check in for Orientation including picking up your name tag and meeting your Orientation Leader (OL). Lunch provided in McClurg Dining Hall for all new students and their families.

You and your family will attend an official welcome from the Vice-Chancellor to start the Orientation program.

Orientation Kick Off
Join the rest of your class to kick off Orientation with team building activities immediately following the welcome.

Parent & Family Orientation
Parents, families, and guests of incoming students are welcome to join members of the University's administration for a panel presentation about supporting your student.

Family Welcome Reception
Family members of new students are invited to a welcome party hosted by the Sewanee Parents' Council. Come meet other families for a fun and festive gathering complete with snacks, drinks, and live music. Leave with a welcome gift courtesy of the Parents' Council!

New students are welcome to eat dinner with their Orientation group or join their families for dinner this evening.

Proctors will host meetings for their residents to help build community and share expectations for living in the residence halls. Attendance at these meetings is required.

Living with Integrity Rotations - Part 1
Orientation groups will rotate through two sessions to learn more about expectations for Living with Integrity on campus. Attendance at these sessions is required.

EQB & Campus Safety
This session will cover the most important components of EQB: The Guide for Living in Community and campus safety with the Office of Community Standards, Sewanee Police Department, and Sewanee Volunteer Fire Department.

Honor Code
In this session, students will meet with members of the Honor Council to understand their responsibilities to the community as expressed in the Honor Code.

Orientation Leaders will lead your group on a campus tour. The campus tour will highlight important locations including where classes are held, as well as a chance to meet staff in duPont Library, the Wellness Commons, and Sewanee Dining.

In the same theme, this session you will give you the opportunity learn about the University's expectations for preventing harassment and discrimination.
