Before announcing any new task force or working group to the faculty, or inviting expressions of interest in working on any such task force, this form should be filled out and submitted to the Coordinating Committee for review. If you are convening a search committee, the use of this form is not required.

The Coordinating Committee will accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the regular academic year. Proposals for task forces that are expecting to convene in early August should submitted to the Coordinating Committee no later than May 1st of the preceding semester.

The Coordinating Committee will review all proposals for task forces/working groups and will provide written or oral feedback. Such feedback may include recommendation of one of the following:

a) Referral of the proposal to the Nominating Committee or Committee on Committees.

b) Revision to, or clarification of, some aspect of the proposal before the formation of a task force or referral of the proposal to Nominating Committee or Committee on Committees.

c) Referral of the proposal to an existing committee in lieu of convening a new group/task force.

The Coordinating Committee will review all proposals within one week of receipt. Should the proposal be referred to the nominating committee or committee on committees, that committee will have up to two weeks to solicit nominations and make their recommendations, although we anticipate this usually happening much more quickly. Nonetheless, it could conceivably take one month or less from the time of submitting a proposal for a task force to being able to convene a first meeting of said task force. For proposals requiring revision or clarification, it could take longer. Please plan accordingly.
