Career Readiness annually hosts multiple events to allow students to explore careers, develop skills, and engage with alumni and other experts.

Signature Events

Beyond the Gates

Juniors and seniors are invited to participate in a fast-paced and engaging weekend staffed by alumni and parents from a variety of career fields and areas of the country. The weekend includes networking opportunities, practice interviews, business dining etiquette, career-specific panel discussions, and advice on life and work after Sewanee.

CAREERS IN HEALTH AND MEDICINE

Co-hosted by Career Readiness + Student Success and the Office of Health and Medical Programs, this event brings alumni from multiple areas of practice for panel discussions, networking, and practice interviews. Careers in Health and Medicine happens annually in October. 

GRADUATE SCHOOL APPLICATION

Noted author and speaker Don Asher visits campus annually to lead a personal statement workshop and a session on the application process to gain acceptance at top graduate schools. Asher visits campus each year in September.

GRADUATE SCHOOL FAIR

Recruiters engage with students to share information about their graduate programs and professional schools. The Graduate School Fair happens annually in October.

OUT FOR WORK

This interactive panel is co-hosted by Career Readiness and LGBTQ+ student organizations. Out for Work happens each year in April.

SMITH CAREER DAY

This event is endowed by the Joel A. Smith III Fund and highlights careers in banking, consulting, and finance. Co-hosted by Career Readiness + Student Success and the Babson Center for Global Commerce, Smith Career Day happens annually in September.  Read More.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES FAIR

Ranches, conference centers, and summer camps come to campus to recruit Sewanee students for employment. The Summer Opportunities Fair happens each year in January.

Wayfinding: Imagining your possible path(s)

Co-sponsored by All Saints' Chapel, this event is geared toward sophomore students who are interested in exploring possible career paths, reflecting on their strengths, and imagining their future. Wayfinding happens annually in November.
