We are here to help you prepare for and evaluate your career options, look for (or fund) an internship, find post-graduate jobs, think about graduate school, or to discuss your major. We provide personal attention through individual coaching, and we provide a wealth of online resources and events.

We actively support all students and recent graduates as they seek rewarding, meaningful, and purposeful work. Please let us know if there are additional ways we can provide support by writing careers@sewanee.edu

Academic Resources

Every learner finds their own way and might need different types of learning environments or support to manage the rigors and expectations of the classroom. Sewanee offers a range of academic resources that can help in many ways.

Career Resources

Career Opportunity Fund

Grants are now available from the Career Opportunity Fund. An Opportunity Grant is an additional resource provided by Career Readiness to offset the cost of career and graduate school exploration for students with financial need.

Expenses eligible for Opportunity Grants include but are not limited to:

  • Travel to conferences, interviews, or career fairs
  • Interview expenses not paid for or reimbursed by the interviewing organization
  • Graduate school application fees
  • Graduate school exams and study materials
  • Interview attire including suits, blazers, ties, and dress shoes
  • Other professional experiences

All students are eligible for up to $1,000 of funding through the Opportunity Fund while enrolled at Sewanee (maximum over four years).  However, funds are limited, and extra consideration will be given based on financial need, class year, and previous receipt of an Opportunity Fund. It is rare for the full $1,000 to be granted in a singular request.

Important details:

  • Grants are considered on a rolling basis, and fewer funds may be available at the end of each semester.
  • Grant applications may take between 5–7 business days to be decided and an additional 5 business days to process.
  • Students should work with Student Accounts to ensure they are enrolled in direct deposit as all funds will be distributed in this manner.
  • The strongest applications will include exact amounts of the expenses requested.
