The French House is dedicated to promoting the French language as well as French and Francophone cultures. The French Department maintains close ties with the French House and its residents during the year. Living in the French House for at least a semester is strongly recommended of all French and French Studies majors and minors, and other French enthusiasts are also encouraged to apply.
The French House houses nine students in its five rooms: four doubles and one single. The single room on the main floor has a private bathroom, while two full bathrooms on the second floor are shared by two rooms each. The main floor also has a half bath for guests. Bedrooms and windows are unique in size and shape.
On the main floor of the house, residents can enjoy studying and hanging out in the large living room, TV room, kitchen, and dining room. Cable is provided, as well as several couches and chairs for seating. The kitchen contains a stove top, oven, sink, dishwasher, cabinet space, refrigerator, and microwave. Limited cooking supplies are provided. Students may wish to bring their own. A washing machine and dryer are located on the second floor. Residents of the French House also enjoy a covered outdoor patio on the front of the house, outdoor seating, and a grill. There is a small gravel driveway next to the house for resident parking.
