Ayres Hall opened in August 2016 as a coed residence hall that houses first-year students as well as upperclass students. Named in recognition of Robert Moss Ayres Jr. (C'49, and former Vice-Chancellor of the University), this hall stands on the former location of Van Ness Hall and is located on Alabama Avenue.

Layout

Ayres is home to 114 students living in double and single rooms. Each wing has two hall baths and each floor has one single-use bath. The closets, built in the wall, are without doors; many students choose to bring a four-foot tension rod to hang a curtain. All rooms are carpeted, and windows are furnished with blinds. Average double room: 11'6" wide x 17' deep.

A‌menities

There are common rooms on the first and third floors with comfortable seating. The third floor common room has cable television. The residence hall kitchen, furnished with stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, and sink, is located on the first floor. There is a study room on each wing of each floor. Laundry machines and indoor bike storage are located on the first floor. Ayres also has a back patio and grill. Ayres Hall is air-conditioned.
