Ayres is home to 114 students living in double and single rooms. Each wing has two hall baths and each floor has one single-use bath. The closets, built in the wall, are without doors; many students choose to bring a four-foot tension rod to hang a curtain. All rooms are carpeted, and windows are furnished with blinds. Average double room: 11'6" wide x 17' deep.
Ayres Hall opened in August 2016 as a coed residence hall that houses first-year students as well as upperclass students. Named in recognition of Robert Moss Ayres Jr. (C'49, and former vice-chancellor of the University), this hall stands on the former location of Van Ness Hall and is located on Alabama Avenue.
