The Babson Center for Global Commerce welcomes Humphreys Entrepreneur-In-Residence Jim Henley C’96, Chief Technology Officer of Quanturisk, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 4:30 pm, in the DuPont Torian Room. Please join us for a presentation entitled: “Curiosity Compounds: A Geologist’s Guide to Thriving in the Age of AI”. This event is co-sponsored by the Babson Center for Global Commerce, the Department of Earth and Environmental Systems, and the Department of Math and Computer Science.
Jim Henley is Chief Technology Officer at Quanturisk Analytics, where he leads technology strategy and product innovation to turn environmental risks into quantifiable financial insights. He also serves as Senior AI Advisor and Agent Deployment Lead at Stellis AI, helping leaders adopt and integrate AI effectively. His work at Quanturisk builds on 15 years at Moody’s, where he held senior roles in Analytical Design and Data Management, helping to transform financial data capabilities. At Moody’s, he saw a need to better measure the financial impact of environmental and climate risks, which led to driving innovations at Quanturisk. Earlier in his career, after graduate school, Henley was a Hydrogeologist at McLane Environmental LLC and began his career as a Geologist II at ThermoRetec, applying groundwater modeling and contaminant-transport analysis to environmental cleanup and safety.
Henley earned his master's degree in Hydrogeology, with a focus on numerical methods, from Clemson University. He graduated from Sewanee with a B.S. in geology. Henley believes Sewanee helped him to create positive habits such as “questioning and exploring problems from different perspectives, and continuing to learn”. His favorite memories include leadership on the Sewanee mountain bike team and the relationships he formed with professors such as Dr. Bran Potter. Henley credits Sewanee with evoking his everlasting sense of curiosity about the world. This pursuit and drive led him to many career paths, and intentionality has allowed him to be successful in his many roles.
Please join Jim Henley for an exciting discussion on how the people best positioned to thrive in the age of AI will be those who remain curious, have a strong desire to learn, and capitalize on what they are capable of contributing to this rapidly growing technological society.
