Join us for Sewanee’s 1st Annual Paint the Town Purple 5K Color Run (Walk or Roll), happening on October 26th, 2024, right here on the domain! The 5K Color Run also welcomes walkers, rollers, and the like. Feel free to walk, roll a stroller, wheelchair, or just come and watch the fun of seeing everyone get splashed with purple color!

This vibrant event is not just about fun, but also about community. This event is brought to you by the Title IX Office and several wonderful sponsors and partners. The purpose of this Title IX event is to raise awareness and show support for those affected by domestic violence. Purple is the color for domestic violence awareness, so every step and splash of purple color you take will help us spread the message of hope, strength, and solidarity with survivors.

The first 50 people to register are free! After that, registration prices will be in effect. Early registration is $9; General Registration is $15; Day of the event registration is $20. All children 12 and under are free. Everyone who registers prior to September 30th is guaranteed a T-shirt in their size and other registration swag. See the flyer below for more info!

Here's how you can get involved:

  1. Register: Sign up now by CLICKING HERE. The first 50 people to register will be free. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun day out, everyone, including community members, students, staff, and faculty are welcome! The Greek organization, Student Organization, or Athletic team that gets the most people registered will get a special tribute and trophy. 

  2. Volunteer: To make this event possible, we will need plenty of volunteers! You can sign up to volunteer by CLICKING HERE. All students, staff, and faculty are welcome to volunteer.

  3. Dress Up: Wear your white t-shirt and be ready to get splashed with vibrant purple washable powder paint along the route.

  4. Run, Walk, or Stroll: Choose your pace and enjoy the course with family, friends, and fellow supporters.

  5. Support: Send an encouraging message to a survivor by CLICKING HERE. You can also check out this list of resources that provide support to survivors of domestic violence.

  6. Donate: Donate your dollars and/or gently used clothing to the cause. Donations can go to any of the payment exchange platforms here: $SewaneePrevention (CashApp); Sewanee Prevention (PayPal); or Sewanee Prevention (Venmo). All clothing donations will go directly to a local domestic violence shelter. Together, we can make a difference!

The Paint the Town Purple 5K Color Run is more than just a race; it's a movement. Let's come together as a community to show our support, raise awareness, and take a stand against domestic violence. After the color run, show up to the “Sewanee vs Rhodes” football game in all your purple painted glory to support our Tigers and Survivors!
