Sewanee’s 2nd Annual Paint the Town Purple 5K Color Run

Join us for Sewanee’s 2nd Annual Paint the Town Purple 5K Color Run, happening on October 4th, 2025, right here on the domain. The 5K Color Run also welcomes walkers, rollers, and the like. Feel free to walk, or just come and watch the fun of seeing everyone get splashed with purple color!

This vibrant event is not just about fun, but also about community. This event is brought to you by the Title IX Office and several wonderful sponsors. The purpose of this Title IX event is to raise awareness and show support for those affected by domestic violence. Purple is the color for domestic violence awareness, so every step you take and splash of purple color will help us spread the message of hope, strength, and solidarity with survivors.

  • Early registration is $5;
  • General Registration is $10;
  • Day of the event registration is $20.
  • All children 12 and under are free. Everyone who registers prior to September 12th is guaranteed a T-shirt and other registration swag. See the flyer and more info below!

Here's how you can get involved:

  1. Register: Sign up now by CLICKING HERE. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun day out, everyone is welcome, including community members, students, staff, and faculty. The Greek organization, Student Organization, or Athletic team that gets the most people registered will get a special shoutout. 

  2. Volunteer: To make this event possible, we will need plenty of volunteers! You can sign up to volunteer by CLICKING HERE. All students, staff, and faculty are welcome to volunteer.

  3. Dress Up: Wear your white t-shirt and be ready to get splashed with vibrant purple washable paint along the route.

  4. Run, Walk, or Stroll: Choose your pace and enjoy the course with family, friends, and fellow supporters.

  5. Support: You can check out this list of resources that provide support to survivors of domestic violence.

  6. Donate: You can make a donation of any amount to get on course. However, you will not be able to place and will not get a race packet. You can donate using any of the following platforms.

The Paint the Town Purple 5K Color Run is more than just a race; it's a movement. Let's come together as a community to show our support, raise awareness, and take a stand against domestic violence.

After the color run, we plan on showing up to the “Sewanee vs Maryville” football game in all our purple-painted glory to support our Tigers and Survivors!
