"Religious Studies for Breakfast" - meets biweekly, beginning Sept 9, McClurg ABC Room (2nd floor) - Grab breakfast at McClurg and head upstairs to join this discussion group. We begin with a short video, which serves as our conversational prompt. We will consider themes and topics from the study of religion--from manifesting and canon formation to questions about animal sacrifice, robot priests, and the diversity of holidays across the world. There's something for everyone!

"Distraction-Free Study Hour" - meets every Friday, beginning Sept 28 from 11am-12noon in Walsh-Ellett 204 - This is a weekly ritual held each Friday morning and offered for all students seeking space for quiet, focused study and reflection. Hosted by the Religious Studies Department, this weekly rite is offered to help us all practice the work of attentive, careful intellectual labor with accountability and in community.

The Mormon Giant explores the relationship between religion and professional wrestling in the twentieth century. Focusing on wrestlers with Mormon "gimmicks," the film shows how they presented as "heels" (villains) or "faces" (heroes) in auditoriums throughout North America and abroad, and how such representations proved usable (or not) to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints writ large.

This event will feature live narration by David Waler and live soundtracking by Timothy Albro.
