SPECIFIC TO COMPUTER SCIENCE:
  • The McGriff-Bruton Internship in Mathematics and Computer Science is offered each year to fund students working on a project with a professor in our department.
  • The Fund for Innovative Teaching and Learning is a campus-wide, competitive fund for collaborative research with one or more professors, possibly spanning departments.

For each, the professor(s) must be willing to supervise a project over the summer. Both pay over $300/week for the duration. FITL projects are expected to be student-initiated; both require an application by the beginning of March so check the Career services link for details.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCES FOR UNDERGRADUATES (REU)

 
VANDERBILT’S BIOMEDICAL INFORMATICS 
A summer internship program is looking for summer interns interested in the intersection of computing with health, specifically around three focus areas: computationally-intensive approaches (e.g., data science, natural language processing, predictive analytics), precision health (e.g., phenome/genome-wide association studies, genomics, proteomics), and human-technology interaction (e.g., human-computer interaction, human factors engineering, sociotechnical systems).
In addition to learning more about biomedical/health informatics and participating in meaningful research projects, as part of our NSF REU site, students will receive a stipend, housing, a food allowance, compensation for travel to/from Nashville at the start/end of summer, and coverage for travel to a conference if their work is selected for presentation. ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (RIT) 
Rochester is inviting applications for summer 2019. In our program, students will experience research and other career-enhancing activities in an interdisciplinary environment with special focus on Computational Sensing for Human-centered AI.

The REU students will receive a stipend of up to $5000, up to $600 for travel, and up to $1200 for meals. They will also stay free on campus.
