Membership in the Sewanee Women's Alliance (SWA) is available to women who make endowed scholarship gifts of $100,000 or more. Endowed gifts may be made in a single year or over a period of up to five years. Members at this level are eligible to serve on the SWA's Executive Board, but it is not a requirement.

Junior membership is open to women under age 40 who create a scholarship at the $50,000 level. This amount may be given in a single year or over a period of up to five years.

Alex Wilson Albright, C'77, Founding Member, Executive Board, Secretary

Alex arrived at Sewanee in 1973, not long after women were allowed to enroll at the University. During her senior year, she became one of the founders of TKP, Sewanee's first sorority. After graduation, Alex earned a J.D. from the University of Texas Law School, where she later taught civil procedure for 30 years and was associate dean. She retired in 2017 and joined the Austin appellate boutique firm Alexander Dubose & Jefferson LLP. Along with her Sewanee volunteering, Alex has served with the Texas Book Festival, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, and Austin's Trail Conservancy. 


Faith Spencer Armstrong, C'12, Founding Member, Executive Board

Faith came to Sewanee from New York City and became a two-sport (soccer and track) collegiate athlete. After graduating with a B.A. in psychology, she taught at a school for rural children in India and then enrolled at the College of Charleston, receiving a master’s degree in education. Now in neighboring Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, she owns and manages rental properties while also volunteering with civic endeavors, such as assisting in fundraising for a Charleston mayoral campaign. Faith and her husband, Warren, are parents to two energetic young children, Lee and Bo.

Lisa is a native of Birmingham and holds a degree in business administration from the University of Alabama. She has worked as a credit analyst, branch administrator, and underwriter for New South Federal Savings Bank, and has been involved in fundraising for St. Mary's Episcopal Day School of Tampa, the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, and ZooTampa. She is also a board member of Academy Prep Tampa and co-chairs the McCallie for Life capital campaign for McCallie School of Chattanooga. Lisa and her husband, Brett, are the proud parents of Davis, C'17.

Betsy grew up in Thomasville, Georgia, and graduated from Sewanee in 1977 with a degree in American Studies. In 1980, she earned a J.D. from the University of Georgia, and she has been practicing law in Jacksonville, Florida ever since. For nearly four decades, she has served with her current firm, Rogers Towers, focusing on business, bankruptcy, and fiduciary litigation. Betsy is also a trustee for the University of Georgia Foundation, and president and trustee of the Terry Family Foundation, one of the largest private foundations in northeast Florida.

Marilyn Hulsey Dixon, C'94, Founding Member, Executive Board

Mountain Brook, AL

Marilyn graduated from Sewanee in 1994 with a degree in philosophy. She met her husband Jim, C’94, at the end of freshman year, and they married at All Saints’ Chapel in 1996. Marilyn is heavily involved in the nonprofit sector and has a heart for encouraging women to be confident givers. She has served as a facilitator for Women Doing Well, an organization that aims to help women of influence enjoy lives shaped by God’s generosity. She also serves on the board of Lift Up the Vulnerable, a nonprofit that seeks to prevent human trafficking in Sudan and South Sudan.

Houston, TX

Sheryl graduated from Sewanee in 1989 with a degree in political science. She obtained her law degree from University of Houston Law School and became a federal prosecutor, then a partner at Winston & Strawn LLP, where she led the global privacy and data security practice and created mentorship opportunities for women attorneys. After 30 years of legal practice, she joined Crowe LLP as a principal, and she now leads US Legal Consulting. Sheryl travels extensively and has climbed Mount Whitney, Mount Rainier, and Mount Kilimanjaro. During a trek to Everest Base Camp, she discovered a deeper purpose: to empower other women in law and encourage them to aspire for heights once thought unattainable.

Sandy is a third-generation Sewanee alum, following in the footsteps of her grandfather, C'1927, and father, C'51. Having spent her early years in London, Sewanee was Sandy's first experience living in the United States. Her love of travel continued after Sewanee with a Watson Fellowship, after which she pursued a career initially in consulting, and, since 2000, in venture capital investments, including as co-founder of Weathergage Capital. Sandy has served on the board of Sewanee's Babson Center for Global Commerce and on the University's Board of Trustees. She is currently on Sewanee's Board of Regents, and she also serves as an advisory board member for Rice University's Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship.

Lindsey grew up in the Texas Hill Country and has enjoyed volunteering since elementary school. After graduating from Sewanee in 2000, she attended law school at St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio. That led her to a position at the local college teaching criminal justice. After serving as an instructor at Alamo Colleges, Lindsey became the chief operating officer of JEHA Properties. In 2017, she got her feet wet in board leadership at Dress for Success San Antonio. Most recently, she joined the boards of the Alameda Theater Conservancy and the San Antonio River Foundation. Lindsey enjoys bringing people together to talk about the nonprofits she supports.

Kelli is from Tuscaloosa and has a marketing and accounting degree from the University of Alabama, an MBA from UAB, and she is a CPA. She has worked as an investment advisor, accountant, auditor, and HR manager. She is married to Norman, C’76, and is the mother of triplet boys, two of whom graduated from Sewanee in 2016. Kelli and Norman live in Birmingham and enjoy cheering on Alabama football and supporting all things Sewanee. Kelli also spends her time playing tennis, exercising, reading, working for her church, and managing a cattle farm. She is an expert on Sewanee’s undefeated football team of 1899.

Sheri grew up in North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She and her husband, Mark, C'81, met as classmates in graduate school at Duke University, and after a few years in the healthcare software industry, started their healthcare information technology management and consulting firm. They successfully sold their firm after 30 years of steady growth. Sheri has chaired the board of the South Cumberland Community Fund and served as a member of the Session, Elder, and Endowment Fund and a trustee of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She is also a founding board member of the South Cumberland Community Clinic. Sheri and Mark's daughter, Meredith Lawrence Scully, graduated from Sewanee in 2013.

Linda is a pediatrician and member of the faculty of the Yale School of Medicine where she is the chair of the Yale Child Study Center. She also is a visiting professor at Sewanee where she co-teaches classes with colleagues in psychology, art, and history. Linda regularly welcomes Sewanee students to Yale for an eight-week summer internship.

Beth graduated from Sewanee in 2010 and is the daughter of two alumni, Lee Parks, C'81, and Jean Burrell Parks, C'82. She majored in psychology and was part of both the women's rugby team and Kappa Delta. After graduation, she moved to Charlotte and obtained an MSW from Appalachian State University and an MPA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina. Beth has spent her career working in nonprofits advocating for access to basic needs in the Charlotte community. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, needlepointing, traveling, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.

Phoebe Pearigen, P'14, P'17, Founding Member, Executive Board

Phoebe began dancing at a young age, and since that time, she has studied, performed, and taught dance for more years than she likes to admit! She received a BA and MFA in dance and founded the Sewanee Dance Conservatory and Perpetual Motion, the University of the South's annual dance concert. She has served on the board for the USA International Ballet Competition. She is married to Rob Pearigen, C'76, and their two children are also Sewanee graduates, Carolyn, C’14, and Wes, C’17.

Julie Guckenberger Price, C'04, Founding Member, Executive Board

Julie graduated from Sewanee in 2004 with a degree in natural resources. Following an internship in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, at the Jackson Hole Land Trust, she completed a master's degree in Horticulture at Auburn University. She also holds a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Currently, Julie is an assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the UAB School of Public Health. She is passionate about environmental issues in Alabama and serves on the boards of the Freshwater Land Trust, Cahaba River Society, and the Southern Environmental Law Center.

After a 35-year career in corporate and healthcare banking, Carol, C'81, is now retired and lives in Nashville with her husband, Bill. She enjoys volunteering, especially for Sewanee and for the South Cumberland Community Clinic, a health care center in Tracy City that provides free medical services to the uninsured and underinsured community across the South Cumberland Plateau.
