The Sewanee Police Department maintains a staff of security officers for special events, extra patrols, and enhanced visibility and services to our community. All of our security personnel are non-sworn personnel who assist in added security for special events, parties, and other needs. These staff members undergo a training program designed specifically for security operations and customer service for the University of the South. All Sewanee Security officers aare authorized to enforce University Policies. Security staff also conduct extra patrols, security checks, building checks, and other functions that are not law enforcement related. These staff members assist in service delivery to our community which enables us to free police officers to be more proactive.
