The Patrol Division handles all calls for service 24/7 within the department. The Uniform Patrol function is the largest function and division of the department. Patrol officers within this division are usually the first line of contact people have with our department. Our police staff provides the highest level of security and police assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Whether our officers patrol campus or the surrounding area in vehicles or on foot they are the most highly visible division in the department.
Uniform Patrol Duties and Responsibilities:
- responding to calls for service
- writing reports
- conducting preliminary investigation
- conducting routine patrol and security checks of the campus and surrounding community
- providing traffic enforcement
- provide outstanding customer service
- conducting escorts or safe rides for students
- Various other activities as required
All officers of the Sewanee Police Department are certified in Tennessee as fully sworn commissioned law enforcement officers. Sewanee Police Officers enforce University rules, regulations, as well as all state and federal laws. University officers work closely with all local, state, and federal agencies.
