The purpose of The Brown Foundation, Inc. is to distribute funds for public charitable purposes, principally for support, encouragement and assistance to education, the arts and community service.
Sewanee actively participates with the Brown Foundation Tutorial Fellowship. The Brown Foundation Tutorial Fellowship was established in 1971 by a gift from the Brown Foundation of Houston, Texas. An endowed fund enables the University to appoint distinguished scholars to teach for a limited period of time in one of the disciplines represented in the College of Arts and Sciences.
