A special event was held in Guerry Garth to recognize students who received Advent semester awards and prizes.

On Tuesday, Oct. 20, the University held a special small event (masked and outdoors) in Guerry Garth to recognize the students who received Advent semester awards and prizes. The awards are usually announced during a convocation held on Family Weekend; this year’s event was livestreamed for parents and for those students who received their awards remotely. A few faculty members from the departments making the awards attended the ceremony.

Dean of the College Terry Papillon gave welcoming remarks before introducing Vice-Chancellor Reuben Brigety. Brigety stated his belief that “the purpose of an education is to help young people grow to be adults of character and consequence.” He congratulated the assembled students for rising to the challenge. Provost Nancy Berner read the names of the award recipients, and each student walked onto the stage in the Garth to accept their certificate from the vice-chancellor.

Congratulations to these students! See the list of awards, and watch the video of the event.
