During the Advent 2023 semester, students at Sewanee: The University of the South participated in their Civic and Global Leadership Capstone Projects. This diverse group of students undertook initiatives close to their hearts, showcasing a dedication to making a positive impact on both local and global communities.

The projects collectively emphasized sustainability, as students addressed environmental, social, and economic challenges encountered by the client organizations. Diversity and inclusivity were recurring themes, exemplified through initiatives such as an in-depth analysis of sports recruiting practices, the formulation of strategies aimed at fostering sustained student involvement in community associations, and the proposal for implementing a systematized transportation system in the area. Collaborative efforts with other non-profit organizations included research on the protection of cetaceans along the northern coast of British Columbia and a consultancy report dedicated to promoting community empowerment in Manchester, TN. These efforts reflected not only the students' engagement but also their strategic approach to effecting positive and lasting change in the client organizations and the broader community.

A notable takeaway from the projects was the emphasis on transferable models and sustainability, indicating a collective commitment to creating lasting impact beyond individual endeavors. The students' dedication to empirical analysis and systematic solutions demonstrated a practical approach to addressing complex challenges.

The semester's final presentations not only acknowledged individual achievements but also celebrated the collective impact of diverse initiatives. This showcased how a community of passionate students can significantly contribute to a more interconnected and sustainable future.
