UHS FAQs

Do I have to have an appointment to see a provider?

Appointments are required for University Health Services. Go here to schedule an appointment.

You are also able to call our main line at (931) 598-1270 to schedule an appointment or request information.

Can I have lab work done at UHS?

Yes. UHS has an in-house lab for rapid tests such as Influenza, Streptococcal Pharyngitis, Rapid Urinalysis, Pregnancy, and Mononucleosis tests. Additional laboratory tests can be performed through PathGroup or Southern Tennessee Regional Health-Sewanee. STRH also offers same-day laboratory services, as well as imaging services for UHS. COVID-19 tests are sent to Sewanee Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory on campus.

My doctor at home wants me to have labs done while I am here at Sewanee. Can this be done?

No. Your physician will need to send an order to you, along with your diagnosis. You will then need to take this to Southern Tennessee Regional Health-Sewanee to have this performed.

Can I receive my allergy injections at UHS?

The Wellness Center does not currently provide allergy injections. Allergy injections are referred to local providers. Allergy injections may also be administered at Mountain Medical in Monteagle, TN or Chattanooga Allergy Clinic in Kimball, TN. Patients are encouraged to obtain a copy of their medical record from their allergist for continuity of care.

What happens if I miss my scheduled appointment?

Please be aware that UHS charges a $25 fee for late cancellations or no-shows to appointments. This fee will be charged to your student account. To avoid being charged, please contact the office two hours before your appointment time to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
