The Sewanee Field Hockey Camp is designed for Sewanee Prospects and high school athletes looking to improve their skill set, offensively and defensively, by working closely with head coach Steve Simpson, and current Sewanee field hockey players. Campers will stay two nights in our dorms, all meals included, and gain an understanding of the experiences that our campus offers.

Ages: 14-18 (rising 9th-12th graders)

Location: The University of the South, Sewanee, TN
Cost: $425 for campers staying in the dorm and eating meals. $250 for commuting campers. $200.00 non-refundable deposit.

Cost breakdown

Included in the price of your camp is two nights in Sewanee dorm rooms, five meals at McClurg dining hall, a t-shirt and coaching and athletic training staff. Towels, sheets and pillows are not provided. We will collect a check at registration for $60, payable to 'Sewanee Field Hockey,' to cover the dorm key and 'RFID' chipped Sewanee meal card.  This check will be returned at the end of camp.

Our Staff

Michele Dombrowski
Assistant Field Hockey Coach

From 2011-15, Dombrowski served as the head coach of the field hockey program. Continuing to serve as an assistant coach since 2016, she enters her 11th season with the program. In five seasons as head coach with the Tigers, Dombrowski recorded a 39-42 record. 

In 2015, Dombrowski coached Sewanee's first-ever SAA Newcomer of the Year award winner. As a team, Sewanee had six players earn All-SAA honors. Additionally, three Tigers were named to the NFHCA All-Region Team.

In 2014, Sewanee ended its season with an 8-8 overall record. That tied the Tigers' win total in 2013. Both eight-win years were the best finish since Sewanee went 14-7 in 2008.

In 2012, Dombrowski led Sewanee to its highest wins total since the 2009 season. Additionally, five Tigers were named to the All-SAA team, while three student-athletes earned accolades on the All-Region squad.

Vickie Resh
Volunteer Assistant Field Hockey Coach

Graduated in 2014 from Bucknell University. While there, she was a 4-year starter. Her senior year she was All Patriot League, and a NFHCA All-Mideast 2nd Team All American. She was a multiple year Dean’s List and NFHCA All Academic Squad member. In 2012-13 she was a member of the US National U-21 squad. She participated in the USFHA Young Women’s High Performance program, including winning the Gold Medal in 2012.

After graduating from Bucknell, she went to UT-Knoxville to study Veterinary Medicine. She works as a practicing Vet outside of Chattanooga.

Sewanee field hockey players

Get Hands-on experience with our current squad! The Sewanee field hockey team finished with a 6-11 record during the 2021-22 season, and they captured the No. 5 seed in the SAA Tournament. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced in February that six Sewanee field hockey student-athletes have been named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad.
