Engage with leading healthcare professionals and explore health careers at our annual Careers in Health and Medicine event. The Office of Medical and Health Programs partners with Career Readiness + Student Success to host over 100 students and alumni every year. This event is an opportunity for students to interact with alumni in a variety of fields and specialties through small group conversations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.

Participate In...

Panel Discussion

How Do You Make it Happen? This panel discussion focuses on pathways to medicine and allows students to see how they can pursue their dreams. Students hear from alumni at various stages in their careers, from current students such as Harvard medical student Daniel Gabriel, C’18 to leading professionals in their fields like Yale Child Study Center Director Dr. Linda Mayes, C’73.

Practice Specific Info Sessions

Small, focused conversations allow students to explore different health fields and specialties. Ask your questions: What does a typical day of surgery look like for you? What is veterinary school really like? What are you currently researching? Come with questions and be ready to learn about the reality of fields ranging from physical therapy to neurosurgery.

Networking

Build connections and expand your network as you get to know Sewanee alumni in healthcare. Opportunities include an intimate, seated lunch; conversations over coffee and pastries; and an invitation-only reception for students who are actively engaged in pre-health at Sewanee.

Experiential Education

Try your hand at suturing, practice phlebotomy on training arms and conduct virtual dissections using the Anatomage table. These experiential opportunities will be offered throughout the year as well so make sure to check your OMHP emails and follow us on social media for dates and times.
