The office provides intellectual and social programs that advance community efforts to positively shift cultural dynamics and proactivity mitigate exclusion on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ability, socioeconomic status, citizenship or other identities.
Over the years, students have grown to see the Ayres Multicultural Building (MCC) as a setting where members of the community from different backgrounds, cultures, race, and identities can come together for inclusive experiences. This space is open for use to all within the Sewanee family.
The Office of Inclusive Excellence exists to advance equity, intercultural understanding, and inclusion at the University of the South. The office’s resources and services support and enhance the academic, social and overall sense of community for our students.
