Dear Colleagues,
I write to you to follow up on my email of Jan. 25 related to weather conditions and University operations on Jan. 26.
Based on assessments of local roads and sidewalks by the Sewanee Police Department and Facilities Management, the administrators who comprise the Emergency Management Executive Team have determined that the University will hold classes on Zoom on Monday, Jan. 26.
With temperatures remaining very cold today, we will continue to monitor streets and sidewalks for icy conditions. The police and provost will notify the University community by the end of the day on Jan. 26 for plans for instruction on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
Despite the disruption to normal operations today, essential services will continue, including the Sewanee Police Department, the Sewanee Volunteer Fire Department, Sewanee Dining, Area Coordinators, the Equestrian Center, and portions of Facilities Management and LITS. All other employees who have the capacity to work remotely are encouraged to do so on Jan. 26.
We also understand that road conditions may vary significantly across the region. If conditions in your area make travel unsafe, we ask that you communicate with your supervisor to arrange to work remotely or use any form of available accrued leave.
Thank you for your attention and please attend to your safety on Monday.
Sincerely,
Scott Wilson
