Email Update from Provost Wilson

January 12, 2025

Dear Members of the University Community,

We write to update you on the status of classes and work for Monday, Jan. 13.

  • All instruction will be conducted on campus in person for the College and the School of Theology. Please note: Individual faculty have the discretion to hold classes online if conditions are not favorable for travel to campus. Faculty will notify students directly if classes are being held online. Likewise, if students have been unable to make it to campus due to the weather, they should contact their faculty to let them know about their situation.
  • All staff colleagues should report to work as scheduled. If your commute to campus is still unsafe, please contact your supervisor to discuss your work situation.
  • Undergraduate students: If you were unable to pick up your key for move-in this weekend, you may visit the Residential Life Office in the Bishop’s Common tomorrow, Monday, Jan. 13 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to collect your key.
For those arriving on campus today after 2 p.m., please call the Proctor On-Call at 931.636.3721 for assistance in gaining access to your room.
  • University facilities and services: McClurg Dining Hall and other dining options; Health Services, CAPS, FitWell; duPont Library, and the Fowler Center are all scheduled to be open and operating. Check your email for the status of these and other University facilities as they manage any challenges caused by the lingering weather conditions.

The Facilities Management team is still working hard to clear sidewalks, stairs, and paths of any remaining ice and snow. Please continue to exercise caution as you navigate your way to Sewanee and across campus.

The Emergency Management Executive Team is grateful to the dedicated teams in Facilities Management, Campus Safety and Security, Dining, Student Life, and many others who have worked so hard to provide essential services to our students and faculty and for helping to keep the campus safe during this challenging weather event.

Please be sure to check email, sewanee.edu, and LiveSafe for weather updates and the status of University facilities and services.

Sincerely,

Scott Wilson
Provost
