University Baccalaureate Service Features Remarks from the Rt. Rev. Ruth Woodliff-Stanley

At the University Baccalaureate Service, held in All Saints' Chapel on Saturday, May 10, honorary doctor of divinity recipient the Rt. Rev. Ruth Woodliff-Stanley delivered the Baccalaureate address. Her remarks can be read here. Woodliff-Stanley was one of five recipients of honorary doctor of divinity degrees conferred at the School of Theology Commencement on Friday, May 9. The additional honorees were: the Rt. Rev. Anne B. Jolly, T’13, the 12th bishop of the Diocese of Ohio; the Rt. Rev. Brian K. Burgess, T’99, the 12th bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Springfield; the Rt. Rev. Deon K. Johnson, the 11th bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri; and the Rt. Rev. Mark Van Koevering, the eighth bishop of the Diocese of Lexington.

The Rt. Rev. Ruth Woodliff-Stanley serves as the 15th bishop of the Diocese of South Carolina. Her focus is developing a diocese that is rooted in justice and marked by compassion and courage. Ordained to the priesthood in 1991, Woodliff-Stanley has served in many roles across the Episcopal Church prior to her current calling. She is a graduate of Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, the Columbia University School of Social Work, and Swarthmore College. She is married to the Rev. Nathan Woodliff-Stanley; they share two grown sons.
