Use this checklist when you are expecting a child, welcoming a child through birth or adoption, or planning for related benefit changes and time away.

What to do first

Contact Human Resources early so you can understand your options, timing, and any leave-related steps.

Checklist

Review your benefit options for adding a child to coverage.
Confirm deadlines for enrollment changes following birth or adoption.
Review leave and time away options.
Consider whether you want to adjust your medical plan, HSA, or FSA elections.
After birth or adoption, provide Human Resources with the child’s full name, sex, and date of birth as soon as possible so benefit changes can begin to be processed.
Provide the birth certificate as soon as it is issued, or provide adoption documentation as soon as it is available.
Update beneficiaries if needed.
Complete benefit changes and submit any required documentation.
